Content Seminar Series
Resident Evaluations
Residents will be regularly informed about their progress in the Maryland Practitioner Teacher Program. MPTP will use the following communication tools to update Residents and BCTR regarding program performance:
Mid-year Progress Report
In January, Residents will receive a progress report from their Content Seminar Leader outlining past performance against the requirements (attendance and assignments) and will include detail on strengths and areas of improvement. MPTP will also share a summary of the Mid-year Progress Report with BCTR.
End of Year Progress Report
Similar to the mid-year, MPTP will share an End of Year Progress Report along with the overall program evaluation and certification status in May/early June. MPTP will communicate this information to BCTR as well.
Warning Letters
If at anytime throughout the year a Resident is at risk of failing the content seminar, MPTP will send a warning letter. Most often we provide warning letters if Residents are close to reaching the maximum number of allowable absences, or for failure to pay their tuition.
Prescriptive plans
Prescriptive plans are designed to give extra support to Residents struggling with their Content Seminar coursework. Any Resident who is not passing the Content Seminar at the mid-year point will be placed on a prescriptive plan, which will clearly outline the steps that must be completed in order for the Resident to demonstrate his/her competence in the areas where s/he was marked “approaching standard” or below on the mid-year progress report. The MPTP Site Manager and/or CSL will meet in person with a Resident who is being placed on a prescriptive plan to ensure that the Resident fully understands what s/he must do to improve his/her standing in the program. Any Resident who does not satisfactorily complete the plan will not be recommended for certification and will be dismissed from MPTP, and consequently BCTR.
