This alternate route to teaching program focuses on recruiting, selecting, and training talented and successful individuals to shape the future of education in the City of Baltimore.

To date, BCTR has placed nearly 700 teachers in classrooms where they are needed the most. Although new to teaching, these accomplished individuals have been dedicated to doing something about educational achievement and helping their students build the foundations for their future.

BCTR offers you the unique ability to pursue your education as you enter the classroom. Through this program, you will have the chance to earn your Standard Professional Teaching Certificate and have the option to obtain a Master’s degree while earning a salary as a full time teacher.

Residents earn the same salary and benefits as other highly-qualified Baltimore City Teachers, with a starting salary of $41,226 - $49,340, depending on your highest earned degree. You will also have full benefits including health, prescription, vision, and dental.
